Well. You really cant compare Jason and Cliff. Both were good at their stuff. They have diffrent styles and everything.
Jason has better vocals and Cliff is a bit better at bass. Just what i think,

The Unforgiven, One, and Whiskey In a Jar are AMAZING songs. Not to mention EVERYTHING else. But I do like the old Metallica better.
