In 1984, Michael was diagnosed with a skin condition called "Vitiligo." It destroys the pigmentation of your skin. Symptoms begin as white splotches on hands, feet, face and groin area. They can be mild and stay in one area, or affect your whole body like Michael. He used think pancake makeup to even out his skin tone, but the more white splotches he got, the lighter makeup he had to use. You can't keep using dark makeup when 90% of your body is porcelain white!

Do you know how many GALLONS of bleach he would have needed to affect his entire body? If he used that much he would have been dead. The effects would have been immediate, not a gradual lightning each year. There are skin lighteners, but not enough for such a drastic change as Michael. There is a difference between light skin, and no skin color at all.
