Punch, Kick, Smile: Fighter Portrait

Let's put on our hats of make believe for a moment and pretend Habbo is the punch-your-teeth-out-holy-mother of all fighting games (think Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat). Aside from the kick-carp moves and gimmicks the character select screen is key! You've got your visual list of characters and a big old portrait of the one you select. The portrait is usually something pretty catchy or they're in some sort of face off pose with a grrr expression. So, we're tasking you with creating a character select screen for our oh-so-awesome-and-gimmick-laden fighting game!

Take a look at nME's example on the group page for some inspiration/direction. The Habbo style can be thrown out the window with this one so you don't have to use it if you don't want to. That means, you're not limited to isometry or adding black outlines to EVERYTHING. The style is totally up to you. Take a look at the select screens for popular games(Street Fighter, KOF, Soul Calibur) for a little extra help. Keep the stuff relating to your characters (large and small portraits) pixel art but your background and other elements can be 3D, vetor, painted, drawn, watercolored... we don't care.

A few things to link about: How many characters this game has, the layout and shape of the character grid (boxes? triangles? circles?), what does a selected character space look like, what text goes on the select menu, is the background a flat color or more interesting. One last thing. You cannot directly copy another game's layout or characters. If you want to make your own interpretations of them that's ok. Just no copies.
