HOW TO DO A
'FOOT JAM TAILWHIP'
1. Stand up on the bike, and
moving at a fast walking pace
swing your right or left foot over
the frame (you should move
the foot that feels most natural
to you). Wedge your foot
between the front tyre and the
frame of the bike.
2. Using your opposite foot (which
should still be on the pedal of
the bike) push the frame around
in a counter clockwise direction.
It's a good idea to keep this leg
in the air now, as it will really
help with your balance.
3. Next you've got to move your
foot that's jammed in the tyre off,
and put it onto the right pedal. Swing
your other foot over the frame, and
back onto the pedal, and ride off into
the distance!

HOW TO DO A 'TWO PEG GRIND'
1. In the double peg grind, you slide
along a ledge using your front and
back pegs on one side of the bike.
2. As you approach the ledge, you'll
need to jump onto it. However,
don't hop too high as it's safer to
miss the ledge than jump so high
that you fall down hard.
3. As you land on the ledge, the
metal pegs will grind along. It's
really important to keep your weight
centred, if you lean forward too
much the friction will be stronger
on the front peg and you might get
pushed forward.
4. When grinding down a slope make
sure you are aware that you will
pick-up speed. It's a good idea to
try this trick out on a level surface
first to get the hang of it, and go
downhill once you have mastered
it on a level surface.

I need to think about this for a while...

HOW TO GET 'BIG AIR'
1. Safely build up enough speed
as you approach the ramp, without
speed you'll never clear a good
distance.
2. As you approach the ramp,
between 5 and 10 metres away from
the jump, bend your knees and elbows.
This is called the bunny-hop position!
3. When you reach the top of the ramp,
pull your front wheel up with the
handlebars. As your back wheel
hits the top and you 'lift off', start to
even out your bike. Make sure you
don't go into the jump on a crooked
angle, as you'll land on your side.
4. Land with your front wheel facing
down, and make sure you bend
your arms and legs to take the force
of the landing.
? Safety first: always make sure
you wear protective clothing
? Never try to do tricks with any
other bike than a BMX
