- don't let people put you down. take it as a bad day on their part
- people hate to be told what they've done wrong. worse still, lots of people knowing what they've done wrong
- everyone wants to be loved. people hang onto those three words. only say it if you mean it
- the human psyche creates short-term goals to make life worth living for, while our essential purpose is to reproduce
- quiet people have a lot to say
- people make sacrifices in the hope that they will be known for doing so

things i have learnt, age 18:
- all people want is attention. extroverts seek it and introverts convince themselves they don't need it
- inaction is still an action
- 'popular' people have the most standard responses to life and are liked because of this
- people will talk about anything, you just have to be there to listen
- we only understand ourselves
- rage hinders rational thought
- to try and give up is human nature. remember to keep trying
- no thought is original
- live for variety

- never do something out of sense of duty. do it because you want to
- art shouldn't be created with an explicit purpose. don't take control of the creative force, let it take control of you, and it is then that art can be justified
- it is our emotions and experiences that shape us - otherwise we are identical
- the unexpected is funniest
- zigzags are better than straight lines
- there are two choices, accept what you see or make an effort to change what you see
- you will become your parents

- sometimes we push people away just to see if they care enough to claw their way back in
- apologise if you make someone upset, even if it was unintentional
- expectations are wasted thoughts
- it's tough getting to the top, it's even tougher staying there
- things are only embarrassing if you make them so
- empathy is key to social interaction
- we venture into the unknown with fear, in the hope that we will be rewarded when we succeed
- people are the same wherever you go
