In my opinion simplistic opposition can be dangerous because one might judge another based on their differences. For example; some people pass judgment on others based on their ethnic background (Black, White, and Asian etc). One of the reasons why simple opposition is so perilous is because we sometimes do not view our differences as equivalent.

Simple opposition is usually based on how we perceive others based on our own view of humanity. Sometimes we get so caught up in what others appear to be in our own image that we don’t even have time to realize who they really are. One example is when someone thinks that another person is more likely to succeed in life because of their ethnicity. People try to focus their perspectives on the minor appearances. In addition they feel that they are the “dominant” species.
We have to believe in ourselves. We do not have to be a statistic. Confidence is when you have faith that you can achieve. If we have faith in ourselves we can be what we want to be. I know that we hear that a lot but it is true. One quote that has stuck with me is that you should tell yourself that you can be what you want to be and do what you have to do.

It is easy for individuals to say that people from the ghetto can and will not be anything in life. I feel that just because one is from the ghetto doesn’t mean that one cannot succeed. All we need to do is have self- confidence and focus on doing positive things that will help us rise above stereotypes. Sometimes, many of us lack self confidence.
